Fluticasone Propionate (Into the nose)
Fluticasone Propionate (floo-TIK-a-sone PROE-pee-oh-nate)

Treats stuffy nose caused by hay fever and other allergies. Fluticasone Propionate Nasal is a corticosteroid.

When Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Should Not Be Used:
You should not use Fluticasone Propionate Nasal if you have had an allergic reaction to fluticasone or to other corticosteroids such as beclomethasone (Beconase®, Vancenase®), budesonide (Rhinocort®), mometasone (Nasonex®), or triamcinolone (Nasacort®). Fluticasone Propionate Nasal should not be used by children under 4 years of age.

How to Use Fluticasone Propionate Nasal:
Spray

• Your doctor will tell you how much of Fluticasone Propionate Nasal to use and how often. Do not use more medicine or use it more often than your doctor tells you to.
• Fluticasone Propionate Nasal is for use only in the nose. Do not get any of it in your eyes or on your skin. If it does get on these areas, rinse it off right away.
• Fluticasone Propionate Nasal comes with patient instructions. Read and follow these instructions carefully. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.
• You may need to use Fluticasone Propionate Nasal for a few days before you start to feel better.
• If you are using the nasal spray for the first time, you will need to prime the spray. To do this, pump or squeeze the bottle until some of the medicine sprays out. Now it is ready to use. Prime the spray after each time you clean the pump, or if you have not used the medicine for 5 days or longer.
• Before using the medicine, gently blow your nose to clear the nostrils.
• After using the nasal spray, wipe the tip of the bottle with a clean tissue and put the cap back on.
• Each bottle contains enough medicine for 120 sprays. Be sure to have your prescription refilled when it is due. Throw the old bottle away, even if you think there is still medicine left in it.

If a dose of Fluticasone Propionate Nasal is missed:

• If you miss a dose or forget to use your medicine, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to use the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

How to Store and Dispose of Fluticasone Propionate Nasal:

• Keep the bottle tightly closed when not using it. Store at room temperature, away from heat and direct light.
• Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.
• Keep all medicine away from children and never share your medicine with anyone.

Drugs and Foods to Avoid While Taking Fluticasone Propionate Nasal:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

• Make sure your doctor knows if you are also using ritonavir (Norvir®), ketoconazole (Nizoral®), or an inhaled steroid (such as AeroBid®, Azmacort®, Flovent®, Pulmicort®).
• You should not use other nasal sprays with Fluticasone Propionate Nasal, unless your doctor tells you to.

Warnings While Using Fluticasone Propionate Nasal:

• Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breast feeding, or if you have asthma, tuberculosis, glaucoma, or any infections (including eye infections) caused by herpes.
• Avoid people who are sick or have infections.Tell your doctor right away if you think you have been exposed to measles or chickenpox.
• Make sure your doctor knows if you have recently had surgery, injury, or infection on or in your nose.
• Tell your doctor if you develop white patches or sores in your mouth while you are using Fluticasone Propionate Nasal.
• Fluticasone Propionate Nasal may slow down a child's growth. If you think your child is not growing properly while using Fluticasone Propionate Nasal, talk with your doctor.
• If your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse, call your doctor.

Possible Side Effects While Using Fluticasone Propionate Nasal:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:

• Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing.
• Burning, redness, swelling, or irritation around or inside your nose.
• Change in menstrual periods.
• Change in skin color, darkened freckles or scars.
• Cold feeling, weakness, nausea, vomiting, or weight loss.
• Heavy nosebleed.
• Problems with vision.
• Round face, puffy eyes, or changes in body fat (especially on the back and torso).

If you notice these less serious side effects while taking Fluticasone Propionate Nasal, talk with your doctor:

• Headache or muscle aches.
• Mild nosebleed, or blood in nasal mucus.
• Sore throat, hoarseness, cough, fever, or flu symptoms.
• Sneezing, runny or stuffy nose.
• Stomach pain, nausea, or diarrhea.

If you notice other side effects that you think are caused by Fluticasone Propionate Nasal, tell your doctor.
