How to Use Temodal:
Capsule

  • Medicines used to treat cancer are very strong and can have many side effects. Before receiving Temodal, make sure you understand all the risks and benefits. It is important for you to work closely with your doctor during your treatment.
  • Your doctor will tell you how much of Temodal to use and how often. Do not use more medicine or use it more often than your doctor tells you to. Your pharmacist will also give you specific instructions about how much medicine to take. Follow these instructions exactly. Ask for help if you do not understand.
  • Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not split, open, or chew the capsule.
  • If capsules are accidentally opened or damaged, be careful not to breathe in any of the medicine or get it on your skin. If you get it on your skin, wash it right away with soap and water. Call your caregiver right away.
  • It is best to take Temodal at bedtime on an empty stomach. This may keep the medicine from causing nausea or vomiting.
  • If you vomit right after you take the medicine, call your doctor.
  • You may need to take other medicines to keep you from getting infections. Take all medicines your doctor has prescribed as part of your treatment.

If a dose of Temodal is missed:

  • Temodal needs to be given on a fixed schedule. If you miss a dose, call your doctor for instructions.

How to Store and Dispose of Temodal:

  • Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
  • Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any leftover medicine after you have finished your treatment. You will also need to throw away old medicine after the expiration date has passed.
  • Keep all medicine away from children and never share your medicine with anyone.

Drugs and Foods to Avoid While Taking Temodal:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
